TECHNICIAN (SPECIALIST – PROCESS ENGINEER) IN INNATE IMMUNITY RESEARCH GROUP
Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development is a Research Institute within the Łukasiewicz Research Network. It focuses on development of new technologies, resulting from basic and applied research, which, in turn, serve as a basis for innovative solutions for the industry. With high-class specialists and state-of-art infrastructure, we provide capacity for the most advanced research. Our Institute consists of three research centers – Life Sciences & Biotechnology Center, Materials Science & Engineering Center and Center for Population Diagnostics, with access to specialized core laboratories – a combination, which allows to carry out both, scientific research and pilot studies for the industry in a comprehensive manner.
Due to our growing needs, we invite candidates to apply for the position of:
TECHNICIAN (SPECIALIST – PROCESS ENGINEER) IN INNATE IMMUNITY RESEARCH GROUP
Innate Immunity Research Group is looking for an ambitious and passionate candidate for the position of technician to join the project founded by the National Science Center (NCN) Sonata Bis grant 2022/46/E/NZ6/00131 titled “Dissecting the tumoricidal potential of ILC2s in melanoma”. The project will be led by dr. Marek Wagner. This position provides an excellent opportunity to become a part of a young research group dedicated to study a newly discovered group of immune cells termed group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) in the context of melanoma, the most aggressive form of skin cancer.
Cancer is a major public health concern worldwide. Among the most common types of cancer are those, which manifest themselves in barrier tissues, including the skin. ILC2s reside primarily at such barrier tissues, yet their role in the development of the skin cancer is not fully established. Based on our previous results (Wagner et al., 2020, Cell Rep; Wagner and Koyasu, 2019 Trends Immunol), we hypothesize that the role of ILC2s in cancer is defined by the type of interactions within the tumor microenvironment. Therefore, our aim is to investigate the interactions between ILC2s and malignant and non-malignant stromal cells, using a variety of interdisciplinary approaches.
Our long-term research objective is to identify novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in cancer as well as prospective therapeutic targets.
