PORT Seminar Series. SAME-NeuroID project: lecture by Ali Jawaid, Ph.D.
Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development has a pleasure to invite you to the lecture conducted by Ali Jawaid, Ph.D. who heads the Laboratory for Translational Research in Neuropsychiatric Disorders (TREND lab) at the BRAINCITY: Center of Excellence for Neural Plasticity and Brain Disorders, Warsaw, Poland.
The lecture is titled “The Interplay between Metabolism and Epigenetics in Risk and Transmission of Neuropsychiatric Disorders” and will take place on Friday, March 31st 2023, from 9:30-11:00 a.m.
You can attend it stationary at Łukasiewicz – PORT (147 Stabłowicka Street, Wrocław) or online (live streaming on the MS Teams platform Click here to join the meeting).
For Young Investigators there will be post-lecture meeting scheduled as Q&A session at 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. During the session you will be able to inquire our guest Ali Jawaid, Ph.D. about the tips how to accelerate a research career and how to avoid traps and bottlenecks.
Ali Jawaid, Ph.D. is a physician-scientist with training in both clinical and basic neuroscience. He completed his medical studies from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan in 2007, and followed it up with clinical/research training in Neuropsychiatry from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, USA. He then proceeded to complete MD-PhD in Neuroscience from Switzerland (simultaneous PhD degrees awarded by UZH/ETH International Program in Neuroscience and UZH MD-PhD program). Dr. Jawaid has worked extensively in the fields of epigenetics and neuropsychiatric disorders. He has authored 70+ pubmed publications including peer-reviewed articles in Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, Nature Human Behavior, Nature Communications, Trends in Genetics, EMBO Journal and Molecular Neurodegeneration, and opinion pieces in Science and Nature. His current H-index is 26. Outside of work, he is a fiction author, poet, and virtual reality-enthusiast.
Our keynote speaker heads the Laboratory for Translational Research in Neuropsychiatric Disorders (TREND lab) at the BRAINCITY: Center of Excellence for Neural Plasticity and Brain Disorders, Warsaw, Poland. TREND lab is focused on dissecting the liaison between non-coding RNAs and metabolic factors in the long-term sequelae of early life trauma; and investigate how metabolism can be manipulated to counter its neuropsychiatric manifestations across generations.
The meeting is part of the SAME-NeuroID project funded by the Horizon Europe program.
