The location was chosen deliberately: <strong data-start=\"200\" data-end=\"227\">the extensive green surroundings<\/strong> provided access to fresh air, offered ample space for future expansion, and supported the creation of a place combining care, medical treatment, work, and recreation. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-53604e3 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"53604e3\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-320954b e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"320954b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a9c3f84 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a9c3f84\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"385\" data-end=\"618\">The first development plan was drawn up in <strong data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"471\">1896 by Richard Pl\u00fcddemann and Karl Klimm<\/strong>. Construction of <strong data-start=\"522\" data-end=\"590\">the complex, designed as an almost self-sufficient institution with its own service and agricultural facilities<\/strong>, was completed <strong data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"617\">in 1902<\/strong>. <\/p><p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"620\" data-end=\"982\">Over the following decades, the campus served a variety of purposes. <strong data-start=\"672\" data-end=\"697\">After the First World War<\/strong>, some of the buildings were adapted for the treatment of tuberculosis <strong data-start=\"762\" data-end=\"836\">patients, while in the 1940s the entire complex functioned as a military hospital. <\/strong>. In a place that has been associated with <strong data-start=\"1100\" data-end=\"1140\">healthcare, education, and the advancement of knowledge<\/strong> for more than a century, new scientific
