His research sheds new light on the role of the enzyme FBP2, which may be crucial not only for sugar metabolism but also for the proper functioning of mitochondria. <\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-70b8dc6 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"70b8dc6\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4de8714 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4de8714\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u201cCell life is constant motion,\u201d says Dr. Pietras. \u201cIt turns out that the form of the FBP2 enzyme affects how mitochondria move, what shape they take, and how they respond to stress,\u201d he explains. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Until now, FBP2 was primarily known for its role in glucose metabolism. However, the young researcher\u2019s work has shown that this enzyme may also regulate the structure and behavior of mitochondria \u2014 both in healthy and cancerous cells. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In healthy cells, the active form of the enzyme supported proper mitochondrial function \u2014 including their mobility, structure, and energy production capacity. In contrast, in cancer cells, the enzyme is nearly absent. \u201cThis discovery could become a starting point for developing new therapeutic strategies in cancer treatment,\u201d emphasizes Dr. Pietras.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most of Dr. Pietras\u2019s research was conducted using cell lines.
