International conference on neurobiology and neuropsychiatry<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The international conference \u201cPORT for Health: Neuroscience\u201d<\/strong>, organized by the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Center<\/strong> of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT<\/strong>, will focus on topics in neurobiology<\/strong> and neuropsychiatry<\/strong>. Lectures will be delivered by leading specialists from top research institutions in Europe<\/strong>, the United States<\/strong>, and China<\/strong>.<\/p>

The event will take place on October 13\u201315, 2021<\/strong>, in a hybrid format<\/strong> due to the pandemic situation. Each day will be dedicated to a different theme: affective disorders<\/strong>, eating disorders<\/strong>, and neurodevelopmental disorders<\/strong>. Participants will have access to more than 20 live-streamed lectures<\/strong> and discussion sessions<\/strong>. \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT research leaders among the speakers<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT will be represented by the leaders of three Research Groups<\/strong> from the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Center<\/strong>, specializing in neurobiology<\/strong>:<\/p>

  • Dr. Micha\u0142 \u015al\u0119zak<\/strong>, leader of the Astrocyte Biology Research Group<\/strong>, whose work aims to understand the role of astrocytes in regulating physiological processes in the brain and the consequences of their dysfunction, particularly in the context of depression.<\/p><\/li>

  • Dr. Witold Konopka<\/strong>, leader of the Neurogastrobiology and Metabolism Research Group<\/strong>, whose goal is to define the precise regulation of peripheral metabolism by the brain. His team focuses on the mechanisms responsible for the function of hunger and satiety centers.<\/p><\/li>

  • Dr. Tomasz Pr\u00f3szy\u0144ski<\/strong>, leader of the Synaptogenesis Research Group<\/strong>, who conducts multidisciplinary research aimed at understanding the mechanisms regulating the formation and organization of synapses in the central nervous system and their dysfunction in neurodevelopmental disorders.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    PORT for Health: a series of conferences for science and medicine<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    PORT for Health: Neuroscience<\/strong> is the first in a series of scientific conferences organized by the \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network \u2013 PORT<\/strong> in Wroc\u0142aw, dedicated to key issues in science and medicine<\/strong>. These meetings will bring together scientists, clinicians, and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry<\/strong> to discuss topics crucial to modern biomedical sciences and human health.<\/p>

    The discussions will focus on molecular mechanisms<\/strong>, human disease modeling<\/strong>, drug discovery<\/strong>, and innovative targeted therapies<\/strong> in personalized medicine<\/strong>. This year\u2019s edition will focus on neurobiology<\/strong>, followed by oncology<\/strong> in the next installment.<\/p>

    The conference will be conducted in English<\/strong>.<\/p>
