An international panel of experts awarded the highest score to the project <strong data-start=\"279\" data-end=\"387\">\u201cPersonalized antibody-drug conjugates activated by matrix metalloproteinases for solid tumors (PACMAN)\u201d<\/strong>, submitted by a consortium of scientific institutions from Wroc\u0142aw and Warsaw. An amount of <strong data-start=\"480\" data-end=\"498\">PLN 72,854,995<\/strong> from the Polish Science Fund has been allocated for its implementation.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-232178a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"232178a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-118daae elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"118daae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">A new strategy in the fight against cancer<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4f8e4f1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4f8e4f1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"1225\"><strong>The PACMAN project opens a new chapter in anticancer therapy. Researchers will work on conjugates\u2014special combinations of antibodies and drugs (ADCs) which, unlike current solutions, do not need to enter cancer cells to be effective.<\/strong> Instead, they will be activated in the tumor microenvironment, precisely where hyperactive enzymes (matrix metalloproteinases MMP-2, MMP-9, MMP-14) are present, characteristic of many solid tumors such as pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, and melanoma. In practice, this means more precise delivery of anticancer drugs with a lower risk of damage to healthy tissues.<\/p><p data-start=\"1227\" data-end=\"1524\">The project also includes the development of diagnostic tools to assess MMP activity in clinical material and the use of AI algorithms to support patient qualification for therapy. This will enable comprehensive preclinical validation of the new strategy in the context of personalized medicine.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fed8f91 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"fed8f91\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Who is behind the project?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f98af9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2f98af9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"1559\" data-end=\"1794\">The research team is led by <strong data-start=\"1587\" data-end=\"1610\">Prof. Marcin Por\u0119ba<\/strong> from Wroc\u0142aw University of Science and Technology. In 2024, funding was awarded to the INTERCEPT project (\u201cTargeted Single-Cell Analysis Technology for Cancer Diagnostics \u2013 Toward the Development of Interceptive Cellular Medicine\u201d) and the ADEVASCO project (\u201cPersonalized Vascular Endothelium Diagnostics in Oncology Therapy; Toward Modern Vasculo-Oncology\u201d).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab78056 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ab78056\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT \u2013 managing entity<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-43a050d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"43a050d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/port.lukasiewicz.gov.pl\/\">\u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT<\/a> is the managing entity of the program.
