The Horizon Europe Programme remains one of the most important instruments supporting the development of research infrastructure and projects implemented at the institute. Grants obtained by \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT teams enable the expansion of infrastructure and the conduct of research in the areas of biomedicine, materials technologies, and data analysis.<\/p>

The Horizon4Poland 2025 conference, which brought together representatives of science, business, administration, and organizations supporting innovation development in Warsaw, was dedicated to analyzing the experiences of Polish institutions within the Horizon Europe programme and exploring opportunities to increase the participation of national entities in future calls. The programme included project presentations, discussions on consortium building, thematic workshops, matchmaking sessions, and conversations on European technological sovereignty.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Representatives of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT from research teams, the Medical Technologies and Health Industry Contact Point, and the project acquisition support unit participated in the event. In the debate, Pawe\u0142 Kurant<\/strong>, Deputy Director of the institute, shared insights related to grant implementation and coordination of the Teaming for Excellence project. The Medical Technologies and Health Industry Contact Point also conducted workshops on building European partnerships in the health sector and the European Health Data Space (EHDS).<\/p>

Topics related to the implementation of Teaming projects and the operation of centers of excellence were also addressed during the Teaming Club Conference in Porto, where Dr. hab. Witold Konopka<\/strong> presented the activities of P4Health \u2013 the Center of Excellence for Precision Phenotyping and Biological Data Banking<\/strong>. The meeting included analyses of cooperation models and long-term strategies for the operation of European research centers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Wroc\u0142aw, as the main scientific hub of the region, lies within an area of intensively developing cooperation between Lower Silesia and Saxony. Joint initiatives include projects related to technologies, innovation, and economic development, implemented by institutions from both regions.<\/p>

During the 16th Polish\u2013Saxon Economic Forum, representatives of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT participated in discussions on technologies used in medicine, digital solutions, automation, and applications of artificial intelligence in diagnostics and healthcare. The discussions also covered opportunities for joint initiatives and mechanisms of European funding for science\u2013business cooperation between regions. As part of the event, a delegation of Saxon MedTech companies associated with BioSaxony, as well as representatives of the Marshal\u2019s Office and the Polish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), visited \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT to learn about the Institute\u2019s key competencies, including gene therapies, cell therapies, and applications of artificial intelligence in medicine.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Biobanking is an important element in the development of precision medicine, translational research, and biomedical data analysis. Working with biological material and clinical information requires not only appropriate infrastructure but also close cooperation between researchers, clinical teams, and legal and regulatory experts.<\/p>

During the We! Are Clinical Research 2025 conference, Daria Stankiewicz-Chodaczek<\/strong> from the Biobank Research Group<\/strong><\/a> participated in discussions on patient involvement in clinical trials and cooperation between preclinical and clinical teams.<\/p>

At the BBMRI-ERIC Academy Symposium in Bilbao, focused on ethical, legal, and social aspects of health data, Patrycja Sza\u0142apska<\/strong> from the Institute\u2019s Legal Department took part in discussions addressing issues such as regulations including the AI Act, patient data protection, and the functioning of European biobanks.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The dynamic development of computational tools and artificial intelligence is reshaping the way biomedical research is conducted. Dr. \u0141ukasz Wojciech<\/strong> from the Immunotherapy Research Group<\/strong><\/a> represented the institute at the Krakow Conference on Computational Medicine 2025, where topics included multiscale modeling, clinical decision support systems, the use of AI in diagnostics, and the concept of the Virtual Human Twin. Computational solutions applied in biomedical research, also used daily by \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT teams, were presented.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The institute\u2019s scope of activity also includes materials technologies and projects developed with advanced engineering-based economic sectors in mind. Research teams conduct work on functional materials, photonic components, and other solutions used in industry, seeking recipients for the developed technologies.<\/p>

During the Deep Tech CEE Summit 2025, the institute was represented by Wojciech Olszewski<\/strong> from the Advanced Semiconductor Epitaxy Research Group<\/strong><\/a>, participating in discussions on the implementation of technologies in areas such as advanced materials, biotechnology, energy, artificial intelligence, and dual-use systems.<\/p>

Dr. Krzysztof Czy\u017c<\/strong>, Manager of the Materials Research Laboratory<\/strong><\/a>, participated in the PhotonQBoost \u2013 Matching Mission in Poland event, dedicated to building partnerships between companies from the photonics, biotechnology, and agrifood sectors and preparing R&D projects funded by PhotonQBoost.<\/p>
