As of 1 May 2022, \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT has become a member of EIT InnoEnergy. EIT InnoEnergy is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology aimed at accelerating innovation in sustainable energy and investing in projects that support the energy transition.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In line with the strategic vision of the European Commission, \u201cA Clean Planet for All,\u201d<\/em> the transition to climate neutrality will transform the energy and mobility sectors in the coming decades, making them increasingly interconnected. Social acceptance and citizen engagement are crucial to enabling informed decisions about how energy is consumed and saved, as well as about the impact of individual behavior on energy use. This approach ultimately leads to regulatory changes and the adoption of more sustainable and socially acceptable solutions for the energy transition. Over the past 10 years, EIT InnoEnergy has built the world\u2019s largest sustainable energy innovation ecosystem. It is a trusted innovation ecosystem with a broad portfolio of cutting-edge projects.<\/p>

Within this initiative, \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT will be involved in the development of technologies in two thematic areas:<\/p>

Sustainable, secure, and competitive energy supply:<\/strong> renewable energy sources (RES), energy systems and grids, energy storage, carbon capture and storage (CCS).<\/p>

Efficient, sustainable, and accessible energy use:<\/strong> increased energy efficiency in buildings and industry, renovations, changes in industrial processes, and smart solutions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The potential of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT will enable:<\/p>

  • the expansion of service and measurement offerings related to the development of solutions for industry in the fields of photonic, energy, and measurement technologies,<\/p><\/li>

  • research activities planned in clean room facilities focusing on measurements related to the development of materials for photonic technologies using rare earth metals (lanthanides) and transition metal compounds,<\/p><\/li>

  • work on materials such as CIGS compounds and alternative photovoltaic absorber materials that do not contain toxic substances or critical raw materials and are based on copper compounds,<\/p><\/li>

  • the development of thin-film photovoltaic cells based on copper compounds, significantly reducing the cost of manufacturing photovoltaic modules,<\/p><\/li>

  • the development of new products using raw materials for energy solutions such as solar cells (including research using perovskites) and batteries (using lithium, magnesium, and graphite compounds).<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    A particularly important opportunity for the development of a technological niche at \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT, within cooperation under the initiative associated with EIT InnoEnergy, is active involvement in creating a competitive battery model for industry in Europe by 2025. The market value of this sector is expected to exceed EUR 250 billion annually.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
