Research teams employed at Polish scientific and research institutions were eligible to participate. Within the framework of the call, <strong data-start=\"479\" data-end=\"500\">five applications<\/strong> were submitted to \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT, the Managing Entity of the WIB program, with a total value of over <strong data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"625\">PLN 223 million<\/strong>. Scientists from <strong data-start=\"643\" data-end=\"686\">14 scientific and research institutions<\/strong> were involved in the preparation of the submitted proposals.<\/p><p data-start=\"749\" data-end=\"1286\">The application evaluation procedure is currently underway and will consist of several stages. First, the submitted projects will undergo formal verification. Subsequently, an international panel of experts will conduct a substantive evaluation, covering both scientific and business aspects. Particular emphasis will be placed on the commercialization potential of the expected research outcomes (innovative technologies, drugs, and therapies), which may be implemented in production and contribute to the development of Polish science.<\/p><p data-start=\"1288\" data-end=\"1392\">The announcement of the results of the third Virtual Research Institute call is planned for <strong data-start=\"1380\" data-end=\"1391\">03\/2024<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1394\" data-end=\"1829\">The bar in the competition is set very high. In previous calls, only one research team was selected, led by <strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1540\">Prof. Dr. hab. Andrzej Dziembowski<\/strong>, implementing the project entitled <em data-start=\"1576\" data-end=\"1661\">\u201cHorizon of Excellence in the Applications of Matrix RNA in Immuno-Oncology [HERO]\u201d<\/em>.
