This means <strong data-start=\"264\" data-end=\"283\">PLN 142 million<\/strong> available to the best scientists working in <strong data-start=\"328\" data-end=\"353\">medical biotechnology<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f651b19 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"f651b19\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6752ffb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6752ffb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"356\" data-end=\"598\">We are looking for <strong data-start=\"375\" data-end=\"421\">research teams developing new technologies<\/strong> that will have a real impact on the creation of innovative drugs and medical therapies\u2014solutions ready for market implementation and products attractive to potential investors.<\/p><p data-start=\"600\" data-end=\"1157\">The <strong data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"621\">WIB programme<\/strong> is funded by the <strong data-start=\"639\" data-end=\"662\">Polish Science Fund<\/strong>, and through the Wroc\u0142aw-based research institute <strong data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"735\">\u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT<\/strong>, the resources are allocated to teams conducting research at the highest international level. WIB offers not only <strong data-start=\"850\" data-end=\"871\">five-year funding<\/strong>, but also <strong data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"938\">significant shares in profits from commercialisation<\/strong> of research results. Its core idea is to connect science and business in a way that benefits all stakeholders and, as a result, strengthens the competitiveness of the Polish biotechnology industry on the global market.<\/p><p data-start=\"1159\" data-end=\"1803\">\u2013 <em data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1343\">We are opening the fourth edition of the call and inviting research teams specialising in medical biotechnology and developing therapeutic applications across all areas of medicine<\/em> \u2013 says <strong data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1374\">Prof. Jaros\u0142aw Bosy<\/strong>, Director of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 PORT, which is responsible for implementing the programme and managing the Virtual Research Institute. \u2013 <em data-start=\"1507\" data-end=\"1792\">The WIB programme is undoubtedly a major opportunity for Polish scientists to secure research funding, develop a more business-oriented mindset and gain broader visibility. As in previous editions, strong emphasis remains on the high commercialisation potential of submitted projects<\/em> \u2013 he adds.<\/p><p data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"2235\">The fourth WIB call begins with a <strong data-start=\"1839\" data-end=\"1874\">consultation and advisory phase<\/strong>. The <strong data-start=\"1880\" data-end=\"1953\">application submission period will run from 31 March to 11 April 2025<\/strong>. Submitted proposals will undergo a formal evaluation followed by a substantive assessment based on <strong data-start=\"2054\" data-end=\"2096\">scientific and socio-economic criteria<\/strong>. The latter will be conducted by an <strong data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2167\">international panel of experts<\/strong>, including specialists in both biotechnology and commercialisation.<\/p><p data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2417\">Across the three WIB projects currently underway, a total of <strong data-start=\"2298\" data-end=\"2336\">11 institutions from across Poland<\/strong> are involved. These include <strong data-start=\"2365\" data-end=\"2416\">three research teams comprising 142 researchers<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"2419\" data-end=\"3113\">The <strong data-start=\"2423\" data-end=\"2439\">HERO project<\/strong> (<em data-start=\"2441\" data-end=\"2517\">\u201cHorizon of Excellence in the Application of mRNA in Cancer Immunotherapy\u201d<\/em>), led by <strong data-start=\"2527\" data-end=\"2556\">Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski<\/strong> from the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, has been running for nearly three years and focuses on the use of <strong data-start=\"2697\" data-end=\"2740\">mRNA technology in cancer immunotherapy<\/strong>. In 2024, funding was awarded to the projects <strong data-start=\"2787\" data-end=\"2800\">INTERCEPT<\/strong> (<em data-start=\"2802\" data-end=\"2917\">\u201cTargeted single-cell analysis technology for cancer diagnostics \u2013 a step towards interceptive cellular medicine\u201d<\/em>) and <strong data-start=\"2923\" data-end=\"2935\">ADEVASCO<\/strong> (<em data-start=\"2937\" data-end=\"3031\">\u201cPersonalised endothelial diagnostics in oncology therapy \u2013 towards modern vasculo-oncology\u201d<\/em>).
