Current treatment methods, including surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, show <strong data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"747\">low efficacy<\/strong>, as tumor cells <strong data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"797\">survive in about 90% of cases<\/strong>. These statistics highlight the <strong data-start=\"830\" data-end=\"887\">urgent need for more effective therapeutic approaches<\/strong> in GBM treatment.<\/p><p data-start=\"909\" data-end=\"1277\">A promising direction in oncology is <strong data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"963\">immunotherapy<\/strong>\u2014a therapeutic approach that harnesses the body\u2019s own <strong data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1033\">immune cells<\/strong> to recognize and eliminate cancer cells. Among immune cells with <strong data-start=\"1099\" data-end=\"1123\">anti-tumor potential<\/strong>, a particularly interesting group are <strong data-start=\"1162\" data-end=\"1179\">T lymphocytes<\/strong> possessing a <strong data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1218\">T cell receptor (TCR)<\/strong> composed of <strong data-start=\"1231\" data-end=\"1249\">\u03b3 and \u03b4 chains<\/strong>, known as <strong data-start=\"1260\" data-end=\"1274\">\u03b3\u03b4 T cells<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1339\">In humans, two major \u03b3\u03b4 T cell populations are recognized:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1340\" data-end=\"1460\"><li data-start=\"1340\" data-end=\"1400\"><p data-start=\"1342\" data-end=\"1400\"><strong data-start=\"1342\" data-end=\"1356\">V\u03b42+ cells<\/strong>, predominant in <strong data-start=\"1373\" data-end=\"1393\">peripheral blood<\/strong>, and<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1401\" data-end=\"1460\"><p data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1460\"><strong data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1417\">V\u03b41+ cells<\/strong>, found mainly in <strong data-start=\"1435\" data-end=\"1457\">peripheral tissues<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1462\" data-end=\"1886\">Both populations can recognize <strong data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1513\">tumor-associated<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1545\">stress-induced antigens<\/strong>, enabling them to mount a <strong data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1594\">cytotoxic response<\/strong> against cancer cells. So far, <strong data-start=\"1625\" data-end=\"1648\">preclinical studies<\/strong> using mouse models of GBM have successfully tested <strong data-start=\"1700\" data-end=\"1714\">V\u03b42+ cells<\/strong> expanded <strong data-start=\"1724\" data-end=\"1736\">in vitro<\/strong>, but these experiments lacked a <strong data-start=\"1769\" data-end=\"1801\">human tumor microenvironment<\/strong>\u2014including <strong data-start=\"1812\" data-end=\"1844\">patient-derived immune cells<\/strong> that can suppress anti-tumor responses.<\/p><p data-start=\"1888\" data-end=\"2096\">This project aims to <strong data-start=\"1909\" data-end=\"1943\">compare the effector functions<\/strong> of <strong data-start=\"1947\" data-end=\"1975\">V\u03b41+ and V\u03b42+ \u03b3\u03b4 T cells<\/strong> against glioma cells to determine which population holds the <strong data-start=\"2037\" data-end=\"2071\">greatest therapeutic potential<\/strong> for <strong data-start=\"2076\" data-end=\"2093\">immunotherapy<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"2098\" data-end=\"2519\">Through collaboration with <strong data-start=\"2125\" data-end=\"2178\">neurosurgeons from the Wroclaw Medical University<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2205\">glioma tissue samples<\/strong> resected from patients will be used to characterize the <strong data-start=\"2262\" data-end=\"2284\">cytotoxic activity<\/strong> of \u03b3\u03b4 T cells <strong data-start=\"2299\" data-end=\"2311\">in vitro<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2316\" data-end=\"2327\">in vivo<\/strong>.
