data-end=\"498\">perfectly defined macromolecules<\/strong> to accomplish various <strong data-start=\"521\" data-end=\"544\">catalytic processes<\/strong> essential for life. <strong data-start=\"565\" data-end=\"576\">Enzymes<\/strong>, nature\u2019s most sustainable catalysts, control multiple biological processes and functions through their <strong data-start=\"681\" data-end=\"721\">precise three-dimensional structures<\/strong>, which are governed by <strong data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"769\">amino acid sequences<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"774\" data-end=\"787\">chirality<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"792\" data-end=\"1151\">To emulate <strong data-start=\"803\" data-end=\"843\">enzyme-like properties and functions<\/strong> in <strong data-start=\"847\" data-end=\"873\">abiotic macromolecules<\/strong>, it is crucial to understand the <strong data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"964\">relationship between molecular sequence and structure<\/strong>. Therefore, the <strong data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"1000\">PolyCat project<\/strong> aims to investigate <strong data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1080\">stereo-controlled, sequence-programmable macromolecules<\/strong> for use in the <strong data-start=\"1096\" data-end=\"1148\">catalysis of asymmetric hydrogenation of alkenes<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1401\">Specifically, the project will explore a <strong data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1224\">library of chiral monomers<\/strong> arranged in <strong data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1268\">well-defined polymer chains<\/strong> functionalized with <strong data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1313\">phosphine end groups<\/strong>. These macromolecules will serve as <strong data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1398\">ligands for rhodium (Rh) catalytic complexes<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1785\">The research will focus on developing <strong data-start=\"1441\" data-end=\"1484\">scalable and efficient synthetic routes<\/strong> for <strong data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1553\">stereochemically controlled, sequence-defined oligourethanes<\/strong> with diverse structural characteristics. Experimental characterization will be carried out to determine the <strong data-start=\"1662\" data-end=\"1697\">three-dimensional conformations<\/strong> of these macromolecules and to establish a clear <strong data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"1782\">sequence\u2013structure relationship<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"1787\" data-end=\"2023\">The project will also evaluate the <strong data-start=\"1822\" data-end=\"1844\">catalytic activity<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1870\">stereoselectivity<\/strong> of <strong data-start=\"1874\" data-end=\"1898\">Rh\u2013polymer complexes<\/strong> in alkene hydrogenation reactions, accompanied by <strong data-start=\"1949\" data-end=\"1972\">mechanistic studies<\/strong> to optimize the polymer\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1999\" data-end=\"2020\">primary structure<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"2025\" data-end=\"2315\">This work aims to <strong data-start=\"2043\" data-end=\"2079\">establish an innovative strategy<\/strong> for developing <strong data-start=\"2095\" data-end=\"2119\">asymmetric catalysts<\/strong> based on <strong data-start=\"2129\" data-end=\"2187\">metal complexes with sequence-programmed polyurethanes<\/strong>.
