The Foundation of the Polish Center for Technology Development, operating alongside Łukasiewicz – PORT, has existed since 2019, and one of its main goals is to promote science among children and young people. In cooperation with the Łukasiewicz – PORT institute, the Foundation offers attractive extracurricular forms of education. Workshops held in the Institute’s laboratories allow participants to gain knowledge through hands-on experience, as well as to learn about and explore new technologies. In 2022, the Foundation obtained the status of a Public Benefit Organization. By donating 1.5% of your tax to support its statutory activities, you can help, among other things, to develop educational programs.
Thanks to cooperation between the PORT Foundation and OSRAM, a modern educational laboratory was established at the Łukasiewicz – PORT Institute, enabling classes in photonics and materials chemistry. The workshops held there for secondary school students provide not only an opportunity to gain knowledge and valuable experience, but also a chance to become familiar with scientific work and the research process.
The Foundation also supports the PORT Technology Education Center – Gardens of Experience in delivering educational workshops in chemistry, physics, biology, and ecology for preschool children as well as primary and secondary school students. Last year, nearly 140 hours of classes were conducted at the Gardens of Experience, with 1,500 participants from 35 educational institutions taking part. In 2023, the Łukasiewicz – PORT education center is expanding its activities by offering a new program of workshops that introduce participants to the fascinating world of science.
The Foundation’s activities extend beyond Wrocław. Thanks to agreements concluded with the local governments of the Środa Śląska, Wołów, and Trzebnica counties, the educational offer of Łukasiewicz – PORT also reaches students from these areas, who can participate in programs at the PORT Technology Education Center – Gardens of Experience and learn through hands-on experience in the modern laboratories of our Institute.
