Today, the Gardens of Experiments were filled with colours, hands-on activities, and children’s laughter. All thanks to Zmysłowe Slimowisko – a free educational workshop for children organized as part of the nationwide European Funds Open Days 2025.
The workshop was designed around the idea of exploring science through all the senses, offering rich sensory experiences that support early childhood development. By creating their own colourful slime, children learned how a non-Newtonian fluid works and discovered the basics of polymer chemistry. All activities took the form of engaging and safe laboratory experiments that sparked curiosity and encouraged children to ask questions.
The workshop was prepared by the Gardens of Experiments team, which has been promoting science among young audiences for many years. Children eagerly took part in each stage of the activities and were keen to learn what everyday scientific work looks like and how laboratories operate.
The European Funds Open Days is a nationwide initiative that allows visitors to access places usually closed to the public — from modern science centres and research laboratories to cultural institutions and infrastructure projects. Participants can see firsthand the results of projects funded by the European Union and better understand their impact on the country’s development.
