A world-renowned specialist in solid-state and coordination chemistry, Prof. Gerd Meyer, has joined Łukasiewicz – PORT as a visiting researcher. The scientist from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm has been awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Polish Honorary Research Scholarship, granted by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP).
For six months, Prof. Meyer will collaborate with researchers at Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. He will carry out the project “Light Converting Layers” within the Advanced Materials Synthesis Research Group at the Materials Science & Engineering Center of the Institute.
Prof. Gerd Meyer is a professor at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm. For most of his academic career, he was affiliated with the University of Cologne, where he headed the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and both American and German Chemical Societies. His research interests include the optical and magnetic properties of solids and the formation of structures.
The Alexander von Humboldt Scholarship marks another stage of Prof. Meyer’s collaboration with Łukasiewicz – PORT. In October 2020, he was a guest at PreATAM, a symposium organized at the Wrocław institute, dedicated to the latest achievements in materials engineering.
The Alexander von Humboldt Polish Honorary Research Scholarship is awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science to distinguished, actively working German scholars. The program aims to honor their scientific achievements and to promote long-term collaboration between Polish and German researchers.
