R&D Director
Associate Professor Joanna Cybińska, PhD
Associate Professor Joanna Cybińska, PhD, Prof. UWr serves as Director of Research and Development and Leader of the Advanced Materials Synthesis Group (AdMat). Her scientific work focuses on the synthesis and optical properties of luminescent materials, with particular emphasis on inorganic compounds doped with rare-earth metal ions and functional nanomaterials.
She began her academic career at the University of Wrocław, where she earned her PhD and habilitation in chemical sciences. She has also gained international research experience through numerous fellowships, including at the universities of Cologne, Lyon, and Aveiro, as well as at the DESY research center in Hamburg.
At the universities of Cologne and Bochum, she conducted advanced studies on the synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of nanomaterials in ionic liquids. She is the author and co-author of numerous national and international research projects, where she served both as principal investigator and project collaborator. She has also worked as an assistant editor for the journal
Currently, her research is centered on the development of modern phosphors for applications in photonics, security materials, and labeling systems – including thermochromic paints for monitoring product storage conditions and solutions for document personalization.
A special focus of her work is on materials emitting in the near-infrared range and nanomaterials synthesized in ionic liquids, which – thanks to their unique properties – find applications in advanced industrial and medical technologies. Prof. Cybińska combines expertise in materials chemistry, spectroscopy, and functional technologies, adapting her research outcomes to the needs of modern industry and innovative technologies.
