Virtual Research Institute
The Virtual Research Institute (WIB) is an innovative, nationwide model for conducting research with high social and economic application potential. The research area of WIB focuses on medical biotechnology, with a total of PLN 450 million allocated to support research teams.
The WIB program is a funding instrument of the Polish Science Fund. Its goal is to finance the work of carefully selected, internationally competitive research teams conducting scientific activities with strong socio-economic application potential. Led by recognized scientific leaders, these teams pursue research aimed at the commercialization of results.
The Virtual Research Institute was defined by the Act of April 4, 2019 on Supporting Scientific Activity from the Polish Science Fund (Journal of Laws of May 6, 2019, item 823). The scope of financing, its size, allocation, and the managing entity are determined by communications of the Minister of Science and Higher Education.

An Innovative Program for Medical Biotechnology

The WIB program supports innovation in biotechnology, medical sciences, and the development of new products and technologies, with a strong emphasis on the commercialization of intellectual property.
