The aim of this project is to develop new hybrid photovoltaic detectors based on van der Waals/III-N junctions and to understand their operating mechanisms, including control and optimization of the spectral response range.
To achieve this, the project will investigate the distribution of electric fields in van der Waals/III-N heterostructures (vdW/III-N), focusing on aspects such as the Fermi level position at the vdW/III-N interface, its variation under illumination, carrier transport, and defect formation at the junction.
The central hypothesis is that by selecting appropriate vdW crystals and optimizing their deposition methods on the III-N heterostructure (including annealing techniques), it will be possible to obtain high-performance photovoltaic detectors with a tunable spectral response range.
