Quantitative Virology Research Group

About the research group

In our laboratory, we apply a convergent approach, combining quantitative molecular biology methods and bioinformatics to study biological variability, with a particular focus on the mechanistic interactions between viruses—such as HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2—and the host genome over time. Our long-term vision is to use this convergent approach to translate discoveries from fundamental science into precision medicine and predictive health.

Heng-Chang Chen Łukasiewicz – PORT

Dr. hab. Heng-Chang Chen

Heng-Chang jest wirusologiem molekularnym i specjalistą ds. danych z ponad ośmioletnim doświadczeniem. Uzyskał stopień doktora nauk mikrobiologicznych na Uniwersytecie Humboldta w Berlinie (Niemcy). Następnie prowadził badania podoktorskie w laboratorium dr. Filiona w Centrum Regulacji Genomicznej w Barcelonie (Hiszpania) oraz w laboratorium dr. Benkirane’a w Instytucie Genetyki Człowieka w Montpellier (Francja).

W tym okresie rozpoczął badania nad wirusem HIV. W listopadzie 2022 roku został mianowany kierownikiem młodej grupy badawczej, obejmując prowadzenie nowego laboratorium wirusologii w Centrum Diagnostyki Populacyjnej w Sieci Badawczej Łukasiewicz – PORT Polskim Centrum Rozwoju Technologii we Wrocławiu.

Grupa Badawcza Wirusologii Ilościowej_Aleksandra Bryner

Aleksandra Bryner

Aleksandra is a graduate in medical biotechnology from the University of Wrocław. During her studies, she worked on developing lentiviral vectors to investigate the interactome of flotillin-1 in prostate cancer cells. After completing her degree, she undertook an internship at the University of Padua, where she participated in projects focused on arginine metabolism in malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) cells.

In the Quantitative Virology Research Group, she serves as the laboratory manager. She supports the team in carrying out daily tasks, ensuring efficient organization of work. She is responsible, among other things, for coordinating orders, overseeing the budget, and managing documentation workflows.
