Science Fiction in Medicine?

Imagine a world in which we stop cancers before they have a chance to develop. This is not science fiction – it is reality thanks to interceptive medicine.

A funding agreement for a Research Team will soon be signed. Under the leadership of Prof. Marek Figlerowicz, the team at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań will carry out a project titled: “Technology for targeted single-cell analysis for cancer diagnostics – an introduction to the development of cellular interceptive medicine” [acronym: INTERCEPT].

The Intercept project has the potential to revolutionize approaches to cancer treatment and prevention. Instead of treating cancer, we will begin preventing cancerous diseases before they even emerge.

You can read more about this project, as well as about interceptive medicine (that is, how to stop a disease before it strikes), the research team, and the shortcomings of the application process in the WIB Program, on the WIB Program website.
