Seminar: Application of AI Techniques in Medical Imaging

As part of the SAME-NeuroID project, which aims to develop more effective diagnostic methods and therapies for psychiatric patients, a scientific seminar entitled “Application of AI Techniques in Medical Imaging” has been scheduled. The seminar will take place on 27 March at 2:00 PM and will be delivered by Dr Martin Tabakow from Wrocław University of Science and Technology, a specialist in the analysis and processing of medical images using advanced artificial intelligence techniques.

During the meeting, Dr Tabakow will introduce participants to machine learning, with particular emphasis on deep learning methods, which in recent years have gained significant popularity in the field of digital medical imaging. Participants will learn about the main reasons behind the growing interest in these techniques and the potential they hold for the future of medical diagnostics.

Dr Tabakow’s presentation will also address issues related to limitations of medical data, which constitute a major challenge in training AI models. Possible scenarios for the use of artificial intelligence in clinical practice will be discussed, along with potential changes to the standard diagnostic model if these technologies are implemented on a larger scale.

During the seminar, a practical example of applying deep learning techniques to the analysis of capsule endoscopy data will be presented. Capsule endoscopy is a modern, non-invasive method for diagnosing the gastrointestinal tract, which may gain new capabilities through automated image analysis.

Dr Martin Tabakow is the author of numerous scientific publications in the field of medical image processing. In his research work, he focuses on the application of fuzzy techniques and artificial intelligence-based methods.
