The first workshops in the educational laboratories have been completed as part of the research programme of the PORT Technology Education Center – Gardens of Experience. The project, organized by Łukasiewicz – PORT, the PORT Foundation, and OSRAM, involves 36 students from six selected high schools in Wrocław.

The core idea of the first Gardens of Experience programme is learning through hands-on experience. During the workshops, high school students will have the opportunity to explore the secrets of science in the fields of photonics and materials chemistry. The workshop-based approach and independent experimentation under the supervision of qualified staff from our Institute are designed to foster the discovery of talents as well as the development of interests, critical thinking skills, and the ability to draw conclusions.

Participants will have a unique opportunity to feel like real scientists. Through a practical approach to the topics discussed, the organizers will demonstrate what the research process looks like and encourage participants to deepen their knowledge, explore, discover, and ask questions. Answers will emerge during work in the educational laboratory created in cooperation with OSRAM, where experiments will be the primary working method.

The programme consists of eleven sessions. Students from Upper Secondary Schools No. III, V, VII, XII, and XIV, as well as the EKOLA Bilingual Upper Secondary School, were invited to take part in the first edition. Upon completion of the project, workshop participants will present the results of several months of work at their schools and at the Łukasiewicz – PORT headquarters.
