Senior Specialist – Research Engineer (POSTDOC) in the Synaptogenesis Research Group (2nd vacancy)

OPIS STANOWISKA:

Synaptogenesis Research Group is a laboratory conducting multidisciplinary research on synapses in the brain and brain neuronal network, skeletal muscles, and neuromuscular junctions. Our laboratory is multicultural, with half of the lab members coming from abroad. We are committed to conducting innovative research at the best international level.

We are currently recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a project funded by the National Science Center (NCN) grant 2022/45/B/NZ3/03688. In this project, we will study the molecular mechanisms that regulate brain organization, synaptogenesis, and mouse behavior. The brain is the most complex organ in the human body, and we still have a limited understanding of its organization and function. Its malfunction leads to severe neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. Our laboratory uses a wide range of techniques, including protein complex purification, mass spectrometry analysis, histology, cell culture, genetic manipulations, viral gene delivery, and behavioral testing on conditional knockout mice. By joining the project, you will learn a lot of techniques from various fields of biology, and the results obtained will likely be published in good international journals.

OBOWIĄZKI:
  • Planning, designing, and conducting scientific experiments.
  • Writing manuscripts, presenting results at international scientific meetings.
  • Active participation in the laboratory operations.
  • Supervising Ph.D. students and technicians.
WYMAGANIA:
  • Ph.D. degree (or equivalent).
  • Scientific productivity proven in publication record.
  • Experience in laboratory work in the field of biology, especially in cell biology, biochemistry, or neuroscience.
  • Leadership and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Very good English (both written and spoken).
  • Experience in neuroscience and mouse studies will be an additional benefit.
  • Knowledge of any of the following techniques will be considered as added value: immunostaining of cells and tissues, confocal microscopy, Western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, protein purification, molecular cloning, PCR and qRT-PCR, viral-based gene delivery, cell culture, performing experiments on mice, breeding of transgenic and knockout animals.
  • The candidate must meet the requirements of NCN project Regulations. For more information regarding the post-doc role requirements in NCN project check here.
BENEFITY:
  • Full-time employment on the position of Senior Specialist.
  • Work in a scientific research organization focused on the implementation of innovative R&D projects.
  • Training in the use of modern techniques, including work with conditional knockout mice for tissue-specific deletion, complex biochemistry, protein complex purification, and in vivo confocal imaging.
  • Co-financing for private medical care.
  • Co-financing for a sports card.
  • Possibility to join group life insurance.
  • Co-financing under the Social Benefits Fund (for holidays and Christmas).
  • Work on the territory of a green science campus.
  • Free parking space.
  • Additional 10 days of paid leave for employees of the research division holding the title PhD.
