ISN-PORT Neuroscience School
About the School
The ISN-PORT Neuroscience School: Role of Metabolism in Neurodegeneration is a focused 5-day training program designed to equip early-career neuroscientists with the knowledge, skills, and network to explore the complex relationship between cellular metabolism and neurodegenerative diseases.
Metabolic dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a key driver of neurodegeneration, impacting neuronal survival, glial function, and overall brain homeostasis. Addressing these dynamics requires a multidisciplinary approach combining neurochemistry, molecular neuroscience, and translational research.
This school offers a unique platform for deep scientific engagement through lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on technical training led by internationally renowned faculty.
It will take place at the Life Sciences & Biotechnology Center, Łukasiewicz Research Netework – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development, in Wrocław, Poland.
What to Expect
- Scientific lectures covering neurodegeneration and energy metabolism
- Practical workshops in: cellular metabolic profiling, transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis and integration in R, biostatistics, soft skills training including public speaking, manuscript writing and review.
- Poster presentations by selected participants
- Career development sessions and faculty mentoring
- Networking with peers and experts in neurochemistry, metabolism, and neuroscience
Who Can Apply?
MSc and PhD students
Postdoctoral fellows
Applicants should have a background in neuroscience, neurochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or translational medicine. A total of 20 participants will be selected.

- Motivation statement (max. 300 words)
- Short CV (max. 2 pages)
- Abstract of current/recent research (max. 250 words)
- Letter of recommendation from a supervisor or PI
