Half of the workshops for high school students conducted as part of the Gardens of Experience research programme are now complete. In the educational laboratories of Łukasiewicz – PORT, under the supervision of experts, young scientists have already spent more than 70 hours.
The main objective of the research programme addressed to high school students is to promote science through hands-on experience. By carrying out independent experiments, participants deepen their knowledge in the fields of materials chemistry and photonics. The programme provides students with both the opportunity to become familiar with a professional research institute and to develop their scientific interests and passions.
Since January, a group of 36 young scientists has taken part in 72 hours of workshops, laboratory sessions, discussions, and exchange of experiences. During regular meetings, they learned, among other things, what aspirin is made of, how to prepare artificial blood, and how to handle liquid crystals.
The research programme is organized by the PORT Technology Education Center – Gardens of Experience and the PORT Foundation in cooperation with OSRAM. Students from Upper Secondary Schools No. III, V, VII, XII, and XIV, as well as the EKOLA Bilingual High School, were invited to participate in the first edition. The results of several months of work will be presented at the end of June at the Łukasiewicz – PORT headquarters and at the participating schools.
