The objective of this research project is to develop a prototype quantitative diagnostic test capable of detecting early-stage lung cancer, thereby expanding the spectrum of available diagnostic options and enabling more effective use of current therapeutic approaches.
The test will be based on the use of DNA aptamers to detect a biomarker present in the serum of patients diagnosed with lung cancer.
An additional outcome of the project will be the identification of new lung cancer biomarkers and their corresponding DNA aptamers, as well as the development of methodologies supporting the identification of biomarkers specific to various cancer types.
