Workshop Themes

The Scent Lab

How does our sense of smell work? During this fragrant workshop, participants will learn what essential oils are, how they are extracted, and what properties they have. They will also discover the secrets of perfume-making. Each person will create their own sample perfume to take home.

What’s meant to float, won’t sink

When we throw a stone and a rubber duck into the water, the first one sinks to the bottom, while the second stays afloat. Similarly, people and animals can float or dive whenever they want. How is that possible? During our workshop, young explorers will discover the factors that affect how objects behave in water. Then, they’ll use their new knowledge to create a colorful water tower experiment!

The Chemistry Puzzle

Sometimes, science feels like solving a riddle! In this lab-based workshop, participants will explore ionic reactions in aqueous solutions of acids, bases, and salts. They will perform hands-on experiments involving precipitation and dissolution of solids, gas formation, redox reactions, and complexation. Finally, they’ll work through the so-called “chemical crossword”, identifying mystery compounds in test tubes.

Who Ate the Donut? – The Perfect Crime

In this detective-style workshop, participants step into the shoes of forensic scientists. By analyzing fingerprints, shoeprints, and blood groups, they will uncover who among a group of friends is guilty of eating donuts meant for everyone. A workshop full of excitement, teamwork, and scientific investigation!
