Polish Product of the Future at Łukasiewicz – PORT

Scientists from Łukasiewicz – PORT have been recognized in the Polish Product of the Future competition! A composite anti-icing coating developed by the Composite Materials and Coatings Team led by Dr. Jacek Marczak received an award in the competition organized by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development and the National Centre for Research and Development.

The aim of the Polish Product of the Future competition is to reward innovative products developed by Polish companies and scientists. The composite anti-icing coating is a long-awaited solution in the wind energy and aviation sectors. It can be used to protect various types of surfaces against icing, including wind turbine blades. Its key advantages include:

  • easy application using a brush, roller, or spray,

  • low ice adhesion,

  • long-term functionality, even after scratching,

  • zero electricity consumption.

Benefits of its application include:

  • lower maintenance costs for wind farms,

  • reduction of winter energy losses by up to 80%,

  • limitation of the emission of toxic substances into the environment.
