What's new at Łukasiewicz – PORT?

Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development, as the leader of an international consortium, has received a grant under the Horizon Europe program to develop new methods for countering information manipulation. The funding allocated for the project amounts to EUR 3 million.
Funding obtained from the Medical Research Agency under the Regional Digital Medicine Centers (RCMC) program has made it possible to establish a new platform for collaboration between the Biobank Research Group and the Institute of Human Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) in Poznań.
Five applications with a total value exceeding PLN 223 million were submitted to Łukasiewicz – PORT as part of the third call of the Virtual Research Institute (WIB) program.
The international conference 19th International Symposium on Bioinformatics Research and Applications – ISBRA 2023, held on 09/10/2023–12/10/2023 at Łukasiewicz – PORT, has come to an end. We leave the event enriched with new knowledge and a better understanding of best practices in using the latest bioinformatics and machine learning tools in research on the etiology and development of many diseases.
The call for the establishment of Regional Centers for Digital Medicine (RCDM) has been resolved. The Medical Research Agency selected 18 entities that will implement projects supporting the digitalization of clinical research. Nearly PLN 60 million will be allocated to consortia that include the Biobank Research Group at Łukasiewicz – PORT, led by Dr. Patrycja Gazińska. For the Biobank, the two awarded grants mean the development of infrastructure as well as the acceleration of scientific activity within the newly established Center, along with a strategic shift toward translational medicine.
From 04/09/2023 to 08/09/2023, our campus hosted nearly 250 scientists from around the world who, at the invitation of the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Center at Łukasiewicz – PORT, took part in two conferences: PORT for Health: Neuroscience 2023 and the 17th International Symposium on Integrative Bioinformatics (IB 2023). It was five intensive days. Time for a summary!
September and October at Łukasiewicz – PORT will be marked by international scientific conferences. The Wrocław-based Institute invites participants to three events—one dedicated to neuroscience and two focused on bioinformatics.
Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development has a new director. On 14 February 2023, the position was assumed by Dr hab. Eng. Alicja Bachmatiuk. The previous director, Dr Andrzej Dybczyński, has been appointed President of the Łukasiewicz Research Network.
