What's new at Łukasiewicz – PORT?

Effective 09/01/2024, the Minister of Science, Dariusz Wieczorek, appointed a new Advisory Team for Research Infrastructure, which includes Prof. Jarosław Bosy as a member. The Team, operating within the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, brings together experts from various scientific fields across the country. Its role is to evaluate applications for funding aimed at developing research infrastructure. This includes investments in unique scientific-research equipment as well as IT infrastructure essential for implementing the state’s science policy. The Team’s term covers the years 2024–2028.

On 09/04/2024, Kacper Prokop, an employee of Łukasiewicz – PORT, participated—at the invitation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dariusz Wieczorek—in a major event: the Economic Forum, where he attended a discussion panel titled “Where Are You Heading, Science?”. The panel took place at 13:30 and brought together distinguished representatives of the scientific and business communities.
Effective 09/03/2024, Prof. Jarosław Bosy assumed the position of Acting Director of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development. Prof. Bosy brings extensive scientific and organizational experience, with a career strongly connected to international research projects and collaboration with prestigious institutions worldwide.
Modern societies are experiencing a widespread trend toward weight loss. This is a response to one of today’s greatest pandemics—obesity—and to the increasing awareness of its negative health consequences. According to World Health Organization (WHO) data, in 2022 one in eight people worldwide lived with obesity (BMI > 30), amounting to nearly one billion individuals. Obesity is not only a disease in itself but also contributes to the development of many other serious conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and even cancer. As early as around 400 BCE, Hippocrates observed that people with obesity were at higher risk
Today, as part of Fantasy Days, we took part in a press briefing held at the Mediateka, where the 19th edition of Fantasy Days was officially launched. The meeting was an opportunity to visit the headquarters of one of this year’s DF partners, where lectures, discussion panels, and meetings with authors will take place.

The objective of the implementation doctorate was to develop systems for graphene synthesis on copper surfaces and to optimize synthesis conditions to enable effective coating of copper wires and tracks with graphene, along with establishing methods for assessing the quality of the resulting coatings.

We focus on hands-on discovery and experimentation in fully equipped laboratories, allowing young explorers and their parents to uncover the scientific mysteries of the world around them—while having a great time.
The P4Health project, which has received funding under the Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence program, will focus on developing and implementing solutions essential for the advancement of personalized medicine in Poland. Patients will gain access to new diagnostic methods and more affordable therapies. The project will run for 6 years.
