Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development is a Research Institute within the Łukasiewicz Research Network. It focuses on development of new technologies, resulting from basic and applied research, which, in turn, serve as a basis for innovative solutions for the industry. Currently we are looking for Senior Specialist – Clinical Awareness Manager – PPIE.

Job description:

The Clinical Awareness Manager in biobanking plays a pivotal role in enhancing awareness of biobanking among scientists, patients (including patient advocacy groups), and clinicians. Positioned at the intersection of science, clinical practice, and biobanking, this role supports the development and utilization of biobank resources in translational and clinical research. A key responsibility is facilitating the establishment of the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) program within the P4Health Center of Excellence, funded by the Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence initiative. The PPIE framework underscores the central role of patients throughout the process, aligning with King’s College London’s strategic approach.

The Clinical Awareness Manager serves as a vital link between the clinical and research communities. By implementing PPIE principles, they prioritize equity, diversity, and inclusion in both communication strategies and the education of diverse patient groups.

This role develops strategies to integrate public perspectives into priority setting, product and service design, and research-driven strategic objectives. The goal is to foster sustained public engagement and ensure that patient voices are embedded in key research and operational processes, promoting transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration. The Clinical Awareness Manager in Biobanking reports directly to the Research Project and Biobanking Leader (R&D Director).

Key targets:

Key targets at the Clinical Awareness Manager position include supporting the development of the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) strategy (D2.2) and creating materials targeted at clinicians and volunteers. Another key responsibility is coordinating initiatives to raise awareness of biobanking, which includes preparing social media content, developing educational resources, and organizing events and information campaigns within the PPIE framework (MS2).

In this role, maintaining active communication channels with key stakeholders in the biomedical system, such as patients, patient organizations, and clinicians, is essential to enhance understanding and awareness of the biobanking process (KPI 10). All activities are focused on fostering effective collaboration and engagement across diverse stakeholder groups, thereby supporting the successful achievement of the P4Health project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Education and Awareness Raising in the Clinical Environment (WP4, T4.2):

  • Delivering educational initiatives for medical professionals, patients, and researchers on the significance of biobanking in research and therapy, aligning with PPIE objectives under the Teaming for Excellence program.
  • Developing informational materials, training sessions, and presentations on biobanking and its role in personalized medicine.
  • Organizing workshops and seminars to promote awareness of biobanking standards and best practices among patients, the public, clinicians, and scientists.

Collaboration with Medical and Clinical Facilities:

  • Developing partnerships with clinical institutions to expand the Biobank collection (MS3).
  • Supporting patient recruitment processes.

Communication and Collaboration Management:

  • Coordinating communication between the Biobank and key stakeholders, including clinicians, research partners, and institutions (KPI 10).
  • Strengthening relationships with patient groups and organizations to enhance awareness and acceptance of biobanking, in alignment with PPIE principles.
  • Managing information and outreach initiatives, including social media content, educational materials, and the organization of events and awareness campaigns within the PPIE framework (MS2).

Promoting the Biobank as a Research Partner:

  • Representing the Biobank and the Clinical and Biobanking Platform (P1) at conferences, symposia, and industry events, with a strong focus on supporting the implementation of the Teaming for Excellence program.
  • Engaging with scientific and industrial partners to enhance the visibility and reputation of the Biobank and P1 as a trusted source of high-quality biological materials and clinical data.

Requirements:

  • A higher education degree in biomedical sciences, sociology, psychology or medicine.
  • Experience in working with patients in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to engage with patients, clinicians, and researchers effectively.
  • Strong understanding of ethical principles and GDPR regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current trends in translational research and personalized medicine.
  • Proficiency in English (C1 level).
