Influence on the enviroment

Pursuant on Article 32c, paragraph 2 of the Atomic Law Act of November 29, 2000 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1277), I hereby inform that the organizational unit:

Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development
ul. Stabłowicka 147
54-066 Wrocław

in 2024 conducted activities involving exposure to ionising radiation, including:

  1. use of open radioactive sources in a class III isotope laboratory and the intentional storage of radioactive sources and waste (based on licence No. D-19992 issued by the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency on 13th October 2016),
  2. use of electrical equipment that generates ionising radiation, such as electron microscopes, diffractometers, irradiator (for electron microscopes based on applications No. R-8828, R-8829 and R-8830 approved by the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency on 11th July 2019),
  3. use and storage of sealed radioactive sources (based on application   No. R-9694 approved by the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency on 6th December 2023).

The organizational unit monitored employee exposure in the class III isotope laboratory using individual dosimetry. In 2024, dose readings were provided quarterly by the accredited Individual and Environmental Dose Laboratory at the Central Radiological Protection Laboratory. Additionally, environmental dosimetry measurements were conducted by the Radiological Protection Department of the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Łódź and the Silesian Centre for Environmental Radiometry at the Central Mining Institute. Records and monitoring of the readings are maintained by the Radiological Safety Officer. In 2024, the dose limits set for employees (20 mSv/year) were not exceeded. The same year, the operation of the class III isotope laboratory – including the use of open radioactive sources, the intentional administration of radioactive substances to animals for scientific research, and the storage of radioactive sources and waste – was terminated.

Based on the above measurements, it has been determined that the activities conducted in 2024 had no adverse impact on human health or the environment.

As a result of the activities described above, no radioactive substances were released into the environment.
