Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development is a Research Institute within the Łukasiewicz Research Network. It focuses on development of new technologies, resulting from basic and applied research, which, in turn, serve as a basis for innovative solutions for the industry. With high-class specialists and state-of-art infrastructure, we provide capacity for the most advanced research. Our Institute consists of three research centers – Life Sciences & Biotechnology Center, Materials Science & Engineering Center and Center for Population Diagnostics, with access to specialized core laboratories – a combination, which allows to carry out both, scientific research and pilot studies for the industry in a comprehensive manner.

Job description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and dynamic Innovation and Technology Liaison Officer to play a crucial role in the P4Health Centre of Excellence financed from the Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence scheme. This position is designed for a professional who thrives at the intersection of research and industry, ensuring that groundbreaking scientific discoveries are effectively translated into real-world applications.

As an Technology Transfer Expert, you will be responsible for facilitating the smooth transfer of innovative research outcomes from the lab to the market, helping to maximize the societal and economic impact of new technologies. You will work closely with researchers, industry partners, and other key stakeholders to identify promising innovations, assess their commercialization potential, and support their transition into viable products, services, or industrial processes. The role will also involve supporting the process of developing a strategy for bioincubator, which in the future will facilitate the growth and support of early-stage, innovative initiatives based on research results.

This role requires a deep understanding of both scientific advancements and market demands, as well as the ability to foster collaboration between academia and industry. You will actively engage with project partners to develop and implement best practices in technology transfer, intellectual property management, and commercialization strategies, ensuring that research findings are effectively leveraged to drive innovation and create tangible benefits for healthcare and related sectors.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Technology Transfer & Commercialization
    • Identifying opportunities for technology transfer and commercialization within the project;
    • Supporting the development of intellectual property (IP) strategy for the project;
    • Facilitating collaborations between researchers and industry partners;
    • Supporting the project team in the process of developing a strategy for bioincubator.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Organizing meetings, workshops, and networking events to foster knowledge exchange;
    • Acting as the primary point of contact for technology transfer-related inquiries;
    • Collaborating closely with Centre Européen de Recherche en Biologie et en Médecine (CERBM) leading the Work Package on technology transfer, ensuring the adoption and implementation of best practices within the project.
  • Project Development & Support
    • Assisting in preparing grant proposals and securing funding for further research and development;
    • Providing guidance on regulatory and legal aspects related to technology commercialization;
    • Monitoring market trends and industry needs to align research activities with commercial opportunities.
  • Training & Capacity Building
    • Developing training materials and conduct sessions on innovation management and commercialization;
    • Supporting researchers in understanding the technology transfer process and best practices;
    • Working closely with CERBM to adopt and integrate their best practices in technology transfer, ensuring effective knowledge dissemination and capacity building within the project.

Professional qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree (preferred fields: biology, biotechnology, medicine, or related disciplines). A PhD in one of these fields is highly desirable;
  • Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in the field of technology transfer, business development, or research commercialization. Experience working in organizations that secure external funding, including public grants, is an advantage;
  • Very good command of English, both spoken and written (minimum B2/C1 level), enabling effective communication in an international environment;
  • Possession of industry knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in biology, biotechnology, and medicine, consistent with the candidate’s academic background;
  • Familiarity with technology transfer processes, intellectual property protection, and patenting;
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, with strong skills in Excel for database management and data analysis;
  • Ability to perform effectively under time constraints and thrive in fast-paced, interdisciplinary environments;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
