We Co-Create the Wrocław Drone Valley

Łukasiewicz – PORT has signed a letter of intent to support the launch of the Wrocław Drone Valley – a strategic initiative aimed at developing innovative drone technologies in the region.

The Wrocław Drone Valley is a project that brings together key sectors: science, business, public administration, and security services. Its goal is to establish a sustainable innovation ecosystem in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) – for both civilian and military applications.

–  Our institute contributes unique competencies to the Drone Valley: next-generation sensors, artificial intelligence for autonomous flights, and advanced materials for unmanned vehicles. Cooperation with the city and industry will enable us to more effectively implement our technologies in practice. It is an excellent platform for integrating the research and industrial communities – said Prof. Jarosław Bosy, Director of Łukasiewicz – PORT.

The development of the Drone Valley brings tangible benefits to Wrocław and Lower Silesia, such as:

  • new high-tech job opportunities,
  • advancement of technical education – vocational schools in Wrocław are already adding drone operation and maintenance to their programs,
  • a safer city – drones will be tested as part of the “Safe Wrocław” program, e.g., for air monitoring, supporting rescue operations, or infrastructure inspections,
  • improved collaboration between the public, academic, and business sectors, resulting in more effective innovation implementation.

Key signatories of the letter of intent include representatives of major institutions:

  • The City of Wrocław (Deputy Mayor Michał Młyńczak),
  • The Lower Silesian Regional Government (Marshal Paweł Gancarz),
  • Wrocław University of Science and Technology,
  • General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces,
  • Lower Silesian Chamber of Commerce,
  • Łukasiewicz – PORT.

– We are committed to building a knowledge-based economy – in this case, in the field of security. We want the city and region to jointly develop this area of expertise and industry – a sustainable ecosystem of unmanned vehicles. We are connecting universities, research institutes, industry, and the city – emphasized Deputy Mayor Michał Młyńczak.

Unmanned technologies are among the fastest-growing sectors of industry. Lower Silesia has the potential to become a European hub for this field – thanks to strong technical universities, dynamic research institutions like Łukasiewicz – PORT, and an active sector of SMEs and startups.
