High school workshops on halfway
Half of the workshops for high school students as part of the Gardens of Experiences research program are behind us. Young scientists spent over 70 hours in the educational laboratories of Łukasiewicz – PORT, under the supervision of experts.
The main goal of the research program addressed to high school students is to popularize learning through experience. By participating in independent experiments, young people learn about materials chemistry and photonics. The program allows students to get to know a professional research institute and to direct their scientific interests and passions.
From January, a group of 36 young scientists participated in 72 hours of workshops in laboratories, discussions and exchange of impressions. During regular meetings, they found out, among others what aspirin consists of, how to make artificial blood and how to handle liquid crystals.
The organizer of the research program is the PORT Technology Education Center – Gardens of Experiences and the PORT Foundation in cooperation with OSRAM. Students from Secondary Schools No. III, V, VII, XII and XIV and the EKOLA Bilingual High School were invited to participate in the first edition. They will present the effects of several months of work at the end of June at the headquarters of Łukasiewicz – PORT and at their schools.
