Łukasiewicz – PORT develops breakthrough implementations in precision medicine
The P4Health project, funded under the Horizon Europe Teaming for Excellence, will focus on developing and implementing solutions essential for the advancement of personalized medicine in Poland. Patients will gain access to new diagnostic methods and more affordable therapies. The project will last for 6 years.
The main task of the P4Health project will be to develop solutions necessary for the implementation of leading concepts in personalized medicine and to facilitate their use in everyday medical practice in Poland. The project will be executed through close collaboration between new and existing research groups at Łukasiewicz – PORT and European leaders in scientific disciplines in oncology and neurobiology, supported by external experts. These multidisciplinary working teams will utilize groundbreaking technological platforms designed to encompass all stages and dimensions of patient health analysis. This will improve diagnostic precision and enable the selection of effective individual therapies, enhancing the healthcare system while reducing the per-unit cost of treatment.
A unique aspect of the P4Health project will be the experience of Łukasiewicz – PORT partners in preclinical and clinical research, which will form the basis of the research and implementation plan. The consortium will have constant and direct access to the knowledge and experience of leading European centers: CERBM in Strasbourg (France) and King’s College in London (United Kingdom). Within P4Health, partners will create coherent models for implementing basic research results. These models will combine the vision of participatory biobanking, advanced diagnostics, and comprehensive validation of therapeutic strategies. This aims to effectively generate necessary data and increase the translation of research findings into economic and social value. The use of artificial intelligence algorithms in the project for analyzing and interpreting medical data will lead to structural changes in the healthcare system. This will be achieved through increased availability and quality of medical data for entities developing new solutions in modern medicine.
The P4Health project will also be a unique forum for knowledge exchange among scientists, clinicians, and industry representatives. On a social level, P4Health will become an expert forum for regulatory bodies, tasked with supporting interdisciplinary scientific initiatives, improving the functioning of the healthcare system, and mobilizing the public and private sectors to increase research funding. The Teaming for Excellence competition is one of the most prestigious and valuable available to scientific institutes under Horizon Europe. The P4Health consortium has obtained 15 million euros for 6 years, with almost 11 million euros allocated to Łukasiewicz – PORT.
