PORT connects is an international event where we will discuss bridging science with business. Focusing on building start-ups and how technology transfer centres can help scientists introduce their ideas to the market.

Meet our keynote speakers

Marta Zgagacz

Senior Director
Venture Partners at CU Boulder

Marta is a Senior Director for Venture Partners at CU Boulder, where she and her team work with university inventors to commercialise their research. With the help of a variety of programmes developed by Venture Partners, the University of Colorado hit its record high of 25 startups in 2021, 5th most in the United States.

Prior to joining the University of Colorado, Marta co-founded and developed FuturaGene, a university spin-off that went public on AIM in London and was ultimately sold to Suzano. She also worked for D-Helix, another biotech startup based on technologies licensed from several universities around the world. Before she became involved in university spin-offs, she worked at the Collider Detector at Fermilab experiment that was searching for the recently discovered Higgs Boson.

Marta is a physicist by training and earned her B.S. degree in Physics from Rutgers University and her M.S. degree in Physics from Purdue University.

Joris Jansen

Joris enjoys working where cutting edge technologies meet innovative entrepreneurs, so working on the Tech Scouting team at HighTechXL is a perfect fit for him. Joris and team assess promising technologies for application and economic and impact potential.

Joris earned his B.S. degree in Applied Science from Fontys University and his M.S. degree in Innovation management from Eindhoven University of Technology.

Joris is driven to find the best deep tech to help ventures make a positive impact on the world.
