Successes of Łukasiewicz – PORT scientists in NCN competitions

Six scientists from Łukasiewicz – PORT are among the winners of the competitions of the National Science Center: OPUS 23, PRELUDIUM 21, and POLONEZ BIS 2.

As part of projects submitted individually and in consortia with other research units, scientists from our Institute obtained a total of over PLN 7 million for research in materials science and life science.

Awarded projects:

  • “Amotl2 Protein Functions in the Central Nervous System” by Dr. Tomasz Prószyński. Project financed under the OPUS 23 competition.
  • “Development of Perovskite Light Emitting Dressings for Accelerated Wound Healing” by Dr. Somnath Mahato. Project financed under the POLONEZ BIS 2 competition.
  • “Arsenic-Thinned Gallium Nitride Compounds with High As Content Grown by Organometallic Vapor Phase Epitaxy” by Wojciech Olszewski. Project financed under the PRELUDIUM 21 competition.
  • “Study of iongels doped with organic dyes as new, potential thermochromic markers” by Maria Zdończyk. Project financed under the PRELUDIUM 21 competition.

Projects in which Łukasiewicz – PORT will participate as a consortium member:

  • “Genetics of Behavioral Traits Depending on the Activity of the Glucocorticoid Receptor” – consortium with the Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. On behalf of Łukasiewicz – PORT, the contractor is Dr. Michał Ślęzak. Project financed under the OPUS 23 competition.
  • “Hybrid photovoltaic detectors based on the van der Waals/(Al)GaN junction” in consortium with the Wrocław University of Technology. From Łukasiewicz – PORT the contractor prof. Detlef Hommel. Project financed under the OPUS 23 competition.

The National Science Center supports basic research by financing research projects and scientific activities through competitions. In the resolved NCN calls (OPUS 23, PRELUDIUM 21, POLONEZ BIS 2) scientists will receive almost PLN 491 million for the implementation of basic research.

The OPUS call is open to researchers at all stages of their careers. The project manager should have at least one published or accepted work or – in the case of art sciences – one artistic or artistic-scientific achievement. The beneficiary does not have to hold an academic degree.

PRELUDIUM supports the development of young scientists by enabling them to gain experience in project management before obtaining a doctoral degree. The topic may or may not be related to the theme of the planned doctoral dissertation.

POLONEZ BIS is a grant program for scientists coming to Poland from abroad. It is dedicated to scientists with a Ph.D. degree or at least four years of full-time research experience. During the three years preceding the date of opening the call for proposals in the competition, the applicant may not stay, be employed, or study in Poland for more than 12 months in total.

Congratulations to all winners!
