Witold Konopka, PhD became a member of the Committee on Neurobiology PAN
Witold Konopka, PhD from Łukasiewicz – PORT has been appointed as a member of the Committee on Neurobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term starting in 2024. This choice is a recognition of his achievements and contribution to the development of neurobiology.
The Scientific Committees of the PAN represent scientific environments and disciplines, and also serve advisory functions. They bring together experts from various scientific fields, creating a space for intellectual exchange and building relationships among scientists. Their goal includes disseminating science by organizing debates, discussions, and scientific conferences, as well as providing expertise crucial for public debate.
Witold Konopka, PhD, has been leading the Neuroplasticity and Metabolism Research Group at Łukasiewicz – PORT since March 2021. Previously, he conducted research, among others, at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg and served as the deputy director of the Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, where he also headed the Laboratory of Animal Models. His research focuses on the mechanisms of metabolism regulation by the brain, which are significant in combating eating disorders and obesity. Konopka, PhD, is also the coordinator of the Horizon Europe project – SAME-NeuroID, aimed at developing common standards for creating and using neuropsychiatric disease models.
