Workshop topics

The fragrant laboratory (10–30 participants)
How does our sense of smell work? We’ll explore this in our fragrant lab! Participants will learn what essential oils are, how they’re extracted, and what properties they have. They’ll also discover the secrets behind perfume-making. Everyone will create their own perfume sample to take home — combining science with sensory delight!

What floats won’t sink (10–30 participants)
Throw a stone and a rubber duck into water — one sinks, the other floats. Meanwhile, humans and animals can float or dive when they choose. How is that possible? Participants will explore the factors that determine how objects behave in water, and use that knowledge to create a colorful, layered water tower experiment.

Chemical crossword (maximum 15 participants)
Scientific work often resembles solving puzzles — that’s why this workshop is perfect for fans of logic and challenge! The session focuses on ionic reactions in aqueous solutions of acids, bases, and salts. Participants will independently perform various reaction analyses: precipitation and dissolution of solids, gas evolution, redox, and complexation reactions. They’ll also conduct their own compound identification — a scientific version of a crossword puzzle in test tubes!
