Decreasing ore grade, its fine and complex mineralization, presence of organic carbon, worsening upgradeability and 50 years old technology, create difficulties in achieving high quality final copper concentrates, which are further utilized for pyrometallurgical copper production. Within HighCopper project it is planned to develop, on a laboratory and next pilot scale, a new technology of copper ore beneficiation adapted to the properties of the current and future copper ores. Newly developed and verified unit operations, together with construction of new devices, will guarantee production of better quality final concentrates for pyrometallurgical copper production. The new technology, verified on the pilot scale, will be used for a new technological flow-sheet for KGHM, and provide data for prefeasibility study and determination of potential investment risks as well as fulfil the requirements for 7th level (pilot scale) of readiness for technological application.
