Workshop offer:
The chemical side of the kitchen
There is the only one true Chef in the kitchen – chemistry! This workshop will be devoted to examination of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and glucose (sugar) content in common fruits and vegetables. Participants will learn how to do it using the special indicator sensitive to ascorbic acid.

Super durable soap bubbles
Depending on the type of material, water either sink into the material or forms the droplets on its surface – what is the reason? Some animals are able to walk on the surface of the water, whereas human instantly sink in – how are they doing that? The point is hydrophilicity and hydrophobility, which will be the topic of the workshop. The young scientist will know these phenomena and learn how to use it make the very durable soap bubbles.

Mystery of the fluid
Primary, secondary and tiertiary colors – what is the difference? We will learn what is color and how to mix them. Then we use this colors, hydrogen peroxide and the secret ingredient to make the colorful foam, which enlarge their volume in time. What the hydrogren peroxide differs from standard water? And what is the secret ingredient? All the answers will be provided during the workshop!

Chemistry of perfumes
How do we sniff? What are the perfumes made from? Perfumes, eau de toilette, cologne – is there any difference between them? The participants will know what is the essential oil, how to source it and use for make a perfume. Then, everyone will use gathered knowledge to make their own perfume probe! And take it to home!

Rainy snakes
During the class unusual “chemical snakes” will be created. Younger scientists will combine chemistry and manual work in a great fun. While for the older ones it will be a great opportunity to learn about basic chemicals, such as sodium alginate. What’s more, participants will make it rain during the class. However, unlike the usual one, this one will be colorful. And no umbrella will be needed.

Booking rules:
Reservation for the workshop is made using an online form. The number of all registered participants (children and caregivers) must be taken into account when booking seats and payment, e.g., if two children participate with one caretaker, three seats must be reserved and paid for three people.
