Specialist – Process Engineer (Full-time) in Translational Neuropsychiatry Research Group
Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development is a Research Institute within the Łukasiewicz Research Network. It focuses on development of new technologies, resulting from basic and applied research, which, in turn, serve as a basis for innovative solutions for the industry. With high-class specialists and state-of-art infrastructure, we provide capacity for the most advanced research. Our Institute consists of three research centers – Life Sciences & Biotechnology Center, Materials Science & Engineering Center and Center for Population Diagnostics, with access to specialized core laboratories – a combination, which allows to carry out both, scientific research and pilot studies for the industry in a comprehensive manner.

Specialist – Process Engineer (Full-time)
Translational Neuropsychiatry Research Group (TREND Lab) headed by Dr. Ali Jawaid, MD, PhD at Łukasiewicz Research Network, Polish Centre for Technology Development (Łukasiewicz-PORT) works at the interface of neuroscience, metabolism, and epigenetics. The lab investigates the role of metabolic cascades in conferring susceptibility to neuropsychiatric disorders across the lifespan and across generations. Funded by the European Research Area Network (ERA Net), EU Joint Program for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND), and National Science Center (NCN Poland), the lab has expertise in multi-modality investigations involving immortalized neuronal and microglia cell lines, iPSC-derived microglia and brain organoids, ethologically relevant wildtype and transgenic rodent models, and samples from ethnically diverse human cohorts.
The role:
You will work on a generously funded project that delves into the role of lipid messengers in intergenerational transmission of the effects of adverse childhood experiences.
Your tasks will include:
- Leading an independent research project with designing, executing, and interpreting molecular investigations in consultation with the laboratory head.
- Initiating and managing experimental collaborations within the lab, as well as, with regional and international consortia.
- Participation in lab activities, including lab meeting, journal clubs, seminars, and conferences.
- Leading preparation of manuscripts stemming from research, as well as scientific reviews on key areas of interest for the lab.
Requirements:
- Holds a bachelors in Biology.
- Advanced spoken and written English skills.
- Ability to travel, exchange knowhow, and present data internationally.
- Ability to plan, execute, and supervise experimental work.
Desirable:
- Prior experience of working on microRNA-based assays.
- Prior experience of working with human samples.
