SCHOLARSHIP for a PhD student in the Fast Purcell Enhanced Perovskite Scintillator Project
Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development is a Research Institute within the Łukasiewicz Research Network. It focuses on development of new technologies, resulting from basic and applied research, which, in turn, serve as a basis for innovative solutions for the industry. With high-class specialists and state-of-art infrastructure, we provide capacity for the most advanced research. Our Institute consists of three research centers – Life Sciences & Biotechnology Center, Materials Science & Engineering Center and Population Diagnostics Center , with access to specialized core laboratories – a combination, which allows to carry out both, scientific research and pilot studies for the industry in a comprehensive manner.
We invite candidates to apply for the position of
a PhD student position (scholarship) in the Fast Purcell Enhanced Perovskite Scintillator project.
The aim of this position is to help developing Purcell enhanced scintillators (together with the postdoc hired for this position). The project will be closely collaborated with Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and Nanyang Technological University.
The selected candidate will be dedicated to work in “Fast Purcell Enhanced Perovskite Scintillator” FAPURITE project of OPUS 24 NCN (2022/47/B/ST5/01966).
Responsibilities:
- Implementation of research tasks related to the project;
- Collaborative and independent planning, conducting perovskite single crystal or nanocrystal optical and scintillation characterizations;
- Verification of nanostructures and material qualities through optical and electron microscopy;
- Electromagnetic wave simulation through our finite difference time domain software;
- Independent characterization and interpretation of research results;
- Scientific Communication of research results to other researchers in the project;
- Publishing of results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and presentations at scientific conferences, public outreach activities.
Qualifications:
- Bsc Hons./MSc degree in physics/materials science/chemistry or equivalent;
- Proven hands-on experience and knowledge of optics, nanophotonics, and plasmonic;
- Research experience in characterization techniques of low-dimensional perovskite materials, preferably Photoluminescence, XRD, Raman Spectroscopy, and SEM;
- Knowledge in electromagnetic wave simulation and programming is a plus;
- Proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journal (optional);
- Good command of English language (both spoken and written);
- Ability to work in teams and independently.
